Document Types DPS allows you to define your own document types to be used for indexing and
viewing documents. |
|
Supported File Types DPS can display graphic file types of TIF (single and
multi-page), JPEG, BMP, PCX and GIF. Files of other types such as those from
spreadsheets or word processors can also be indexed by DPS and DPS will
launch the program associated with that type of document in order for you to
view it. If you can copy it to a work area, then DPS will index it! |
| Scanner Support
DPS is a TWAIN compliant application and should be compatible with most scanners from the consumer level on up to high-speed commercial scanners. DPS also supports ADF and Full-duplex options. |
|
Work Area This is where documents are scanned into and/or other
documents can be imported. The Work Area also provides the tools needed to prepare
documents for storage. You can: Stack Pages, Un-stack pages, crop, auto-crop, manual
straighten, auto-straighten and de-speckle. |
|
Image View Panel This allows you to move around the document, zoom in/out,
display thumbnails, rotate the document, quick zoom to a quadrant and flip through
pages of a multi-page file. |
|
|
Document Searching DPS provides a flexible search screen for gaining access
to stored documents. You can search based on any combination of criteria
relating to document types or all documents. Logical operands AND and OR
provide more control on your selection. Since DPS performs OCR (optical character recognition) on your scanned documents, you can search for text that may not have been included in the index information. |
|
|
Active List The active list can be viewed after selecting records on
the search screen. While viewing the Active List, a document can be Printed
or Emailed. You can also view information about the document including
all the words DPS found during the OCR process. Data entry fields can also be flagged as modifiable by the
user. This allows you to use DPS as a processing tool for your documents. |
|
Document Types Each type of document used in your business has some
unique as well as common characteristics. DPS allows you to define these
types of documents along with a default list of Document
Descriptions. This default list of descriptions provides data
integrity and faster indexing times. The number of Document Types and the related descriptions
you can define is virtually unlimited |
|
|
|
Field Identifiers Not all documents have the same key information you want
to index on. DPS allows you to define the field headings to use with each
document type. You can also indicate whether or not the entry field is
required, should be displayed, can be modified and/or if it will be a proper
name. DPS also allows you to define a default list of entries
for one of the index fields. This provides data integrity and faster indexing
times. |
|
Operator Accessing DPS requires a User ID and password. A users
access level can also be assigned and used to limit access to sensitive documents. There is no limit to the number of operators you can
define and/or the number of users accessing images using the Viewer
program. |
