The
History of Agency Technologies, Inc.
The
Early Years
In
1985 the management team of Prime
Rate Premium Finance Corporation (Prime Rate) recognized the
need for an automated system to process and report the payments
taken daily by South Carolina’s designated, nonstandard
automobile insurance agencies, also known as Designated Agents.
Prime Rate’s commitment to developing and providing automated
solutions to the Designated Agents lead to the formation of a
sister company named Prime Systems. The company was located with Prime Rate in Florence, South
Carolina. Prime
Systems was incorporated as a South Carolina corporation in
February 1986. At
that time, the company’s software development efforts were
leading to a comprehensive, agency management solution for the
Designated Agents of South Carolina.
The
first agency management software released by Prime Systems was
called The Prime System. The software featured automobile
insurance rating for insurance companies designated as South
Carolina Reinsurance Facility carriers, forms printing and daily
transaction processing. The
software complied with the reporting and audit requirements of
the South Carolina Reinsurance Facility and quickly became the
software most Designated Agents in South Carolina used.
In order to provide a complete solution to the Designated
Agents, Prime Systems also became a value-added reseller of
computer equipment. The
Prime System was instrumental in Prime Rate becoming the leading
premium finance company in South Carolina.
In
1988, Prime Systems developed a policy-processing program for
American Centennial Insurance Company.
The program handled the daily processing needs of the
insurance carrier and made it possible for American Centennial
Insurance Company to become a designated carrier in South
Carolina. The
software was used until they migrated their processing to a
mainframe system.
A
New Beginning
Prime
Rate’s parent company acquired IFCO, Inc., a premium finance
company located in Fayetteville, North Carolina, in the fall of
1989. The software development team of IFCO joined with Prime
Systems to begin the development of an agency management product
called The Policy Profiler.
As development of The Policy Profiler proceeded, the two
groups formally merged and Prime Systems, Inc. became Agency
Technologies, Inc. (ATI) in May 1990.
The
Policy Profiler was first installed in North Carolina on July 5,
1990. The product
quickly became the standard to which other nonstandard
automobile insurance agency software products were compared.
After customizing features for the South Carolina
Designated Agents, The Prime System users were converted to The
Policy Profiler. Policy
Profiler now supports many personal and commercial insurance
lines and over 250 agents in North Carolina, South Carolina and
Virginia use The Policy Profiler to handle their daily business.
ATI
Today
ATI
develops, distributes and supports point-of-sale software used
by insurance agencies in the Mid-Atlantic and Southeast Regions
of the United States to quote and print finance
agreements. The
software is used for financing commercial and personal lines
premiums.
The latest
version of Policy Profiler is
Policy Profiler for
Windows. Profiler for Windows boasts all of the same great features of the
original versions plus a new, clean graphical user interface and
workflow improvements.
In
addition to the Policy Profiler, ATI
has developed Contract
Generator, a
program for quick quoting and
contract generation with Prime Rate Premium Finance Corporation. ATI has
also developed software for Reliable Policy Management
called RPM Mobile Home Rater
that is used to underwrite, rate and print applications for mobile home
insurance written through Aegis Security Insurance Company. In
addition, ATI has also developed
an advanced document storage system called The Document Profiler System.
The Document Profiler System (or DPS) is an advanced document
storage system that allows the user to scan and index documents.
DPS will run as a stand alone program but can also integrate
with Policy Profiler.
It provides the flexibility of
user-defined indexing fields as well as OCR technology that indexes
every word in the document.
